Cathy Freeman and her husband, James Murch, announced their separation in a joint statement reported on 16 August 2024, after 15 years of marriage. They said co-parenting was their greatest priority, and that they would continue working together through Estrella Sports Management.

The statement added that they would maintain “a professional and working partnership through Estrella Sports Management.” It concluded with a request to respect their privacy and said they would make no further comment.
What is known about the family timeline
The reports place Freeman and Murch’s marriage in 2009. ABC News Australia reported in 2011 that they had welcomed their daughter, Ruby; the 2024 separation coverage described Ruby as 13. The couple’s statement named co-parenting as their priority.
