In September 2022, Adam Levine denied having an affair with Sumner Stroh while acknowledging flirtatious exchanges with someone other than his wife and saying he had “crossed the line.” Stroh had publicly alleged a relationship and shared messages she described as evidence. Subsequent coverage reported that other women also came forward with accounts of alleged messages. Those allegations and Levine’s response are distinct claims; the cited reporting does not establish that an affair occurred.
What Sumner Stroh alleged
On September 19, 2022, Stroh posted a TikTok video alleging that she had been involved with Levine and presenting messages she described as their communications, according to the Los Angeles Times. Stroh said she had felt exploited. She also said, “At the time I was young, I was naïve,” and, “Quite frankly, I feel exploited.” These are Stroh’s account and allegations, not independent findings.
What Levine acknowledged—and denied
On September 20, Levine issued a statement denying that he had an affair. He acknowledged flirtatious exchanges outside his marriage and said he had crossed a line. ABC News reported his statement: “I used poor judgment in speaking with anyone other than my wife in ANY kind of flirtatious manner. I did not have an affair, nevertheless, I crossed the line during a regrettable period in my life.” The ABC News report and the Los Angeles Times both covered the response.
What reports said about other women
After Levine’s statement, the Los Angeles Times reported that TMZ said two additional women had come forward with screenshots they described as flirtatious private messages. On September 21, the Times also published former yoga teacher Alanna Zabel’s separately attributed account of a flirtatious-text fallout.
