In a statement published by TVLine on December 2, 2023, he wrote: “When I decided to end my time with Chicago [Fire], it wasn’t easy.” He also praised the people and friendships he found on the show and said he was proud of the story he got to tell.

How did Gallo leave Firehouse 51?
Gallo’s fictional departure is distinct from Rosende’s real-life decision to leave the series. In an interview published by TV Insider on January 16, 2024, executive producer Andrea Newman said Gallo would make a difficult decision that would make sense to people who had known him since he joined the firehouse. Newman said the show would explain his reasoning, and that his departure would be hard for Ritter and Violet.
