At the 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards, Carrie Coon paired a newly debuted pixie cut with an ice-blue Chanel chiffon gown. Vogue reported that the Chanel atelier spent 341 hours creating the gown, which featured roughly 300 handmade organza flowers, feathers and crystals. Coon said she wanted the look to convey “structure and ease”; the pixie itself was reportedly for an upcoming acting role.
The look at the 2025 Emmys
Coon attended the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards on September 14, 2025, where she was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for playing Laurie Duffy in The White Lotus. Her close-cropped pixie was a striking change from the bob noted in coverage of her appearance. She wore it with an ice-blue chiffon gown designed by the Chanel atelier. Vogue’s account of Coon’s look and Town & Country’s event coverage both report that the gown took 341 hours to create.
What the 341 hours and embellishments refer to
The 341-hour figure is for this particular gown, not a general measure of how long couture dresses take to make. Vogue described roughly 300 handmade embellishments—organza flowers, feathers and crystals—worked into the dress. That is an approximate count of varied decorative elements, not 300 flowers. Town & Country also described the organza flowers, feathers and crystal details and attributed the creation-time figure to Chanel.
Why Coon chose the look
Coon framed the outfit as personal rather than as a reference to either of her television characters. She told Vogue, “I wanted structure and ease—a reflection of how settled I feel in my life right now.” On the exposed shoulders and haircut, she said: “Just exposed shoulders for vulnerability and maximum advantage for my Mia Farrow-esque cut and style.” Vogue reported that she was not dressing as Laurie Duffy or Bertha Russell.

The pixie’s reported origin and styling
GRAZIA reported that Coon’s pixie was for an upcoming role, which was not identified in the coverage. Her hair color had been done about a week before the ceremony by Lena Ott. Cho said the team wanted a “timeless, modern pixie style,” drawing on Jean Seberg and Mia Farrow, with a modern touch intended to echo the gown. “We aligned on leaning into the timeless, modern pixie style,” Cho said.

According to GRAZIA’s account of the hair and makeup, Cho lightly dusted the ends to freshen the cut. Since the color was recent and the hair already felt soft, she focused on protection and shine rather than major treatments. The reported styling steps included heat-defense and shine sprays before finger blow-drying, detail work with a mini flat iron, hair oil and flexible-hold hairspray. Cho also kept dry shampoo on hand in case the style needed refreshing. GRAZIA reported that the pixie remained sleek through the event.

Vogue reported that Coon wore Chanel high jewelry, including 18-carat white-gold diamond earrings and the Jeanne ring. Town & Country identified the earrings as Plume de Chanel and also named the Jeanne ring. Vogue additionally described makeup artist Kate Lee’s approach as a fresh complexion and subtle contrasting colors to bring out Coon’s blue eyes.
