CBS canceled CSI: Vegas after three seasons in April 2024. Marg Helgenberger and Lex Medlin shared farewell messages soon after the news; lead actor Paula Newsome later said she was surprised by the decision and felt the show deserved more time.
Marg Helgenberger thanked the cast, crew and fans
On April 20, 2024, TVLine reported the cancellation and quoted Helgenberger’s Instagram farewell. She wrote, “I’m gonna miss my partners in crime solving,” thanked the people who made the series, and told fans, “we did it all for you.”
Helgenberger played Catherine Willows, a character returning from the original CSI. Her post focused on gratitude for the people involved and the experience of making the show.
Lex Medlin said he would miss playing Beau Finado
Medlin, who played Beau Finado, also posted a goodbye. TVLine reported his message: “I am going to miss this cast and crew so very much. Most of all I’ll miss Beau. He was so fun to play. Thanks all for the support. On to the next adventure.”

Paula Newsome was surprised and wanted the series to continue
In a TVLine interview published May 13, 2024, Newsome said showrunner Jason Tracey told her the series had been canceled and that she was surprised. She called the run worthwhile, while making clear she thought the show should have had more time: “But yeah, it’s a good run. It should be more. I’m very proud of what we did.”
Newsome played Maxine Roby, who leads the Las Vegas crime-scene investigation team. CBS describes the series as following Roby and her colleagues as they use forensic techniques to solve cases.

What is known about the cancellation
The cited reports establish that CBS canceled the show after three seasons, but they do not give an official network explanation. The audience figures TVLine reported are context, not a stated reason for the decision.
- On April 20, TVLine described the season-to-date average as 6.2 million total viewers with Live+7 playback and said the series tied for last in total audience among 14 CBS dramas.
- In its May 13 interview, TVLine cited north of 5.9 million viewers as the season-to-date average and described the show as last among 14 original CBS dramas.
Those are two differently dated descriptions from TVLine; neither cited passage identifies a measurement provider, and neither establishes why CBS canceled the series. They should not be treated as one definitive figure or as an official CBS rationale.
