CBS’s season guide includes McGee in a Season 23 episode description, and its current series page identifies him as a senior agent on the team. Paramount Press Express also lists Sean Murray as McGee in Season 24 cast information—but that later listing is not evidence of a Season 23 replacement announcement.
What CBS says about McGee in Season 23
CBS’s Season 23 episode guide describes an episode in which McGee and Torres work together. The guide lists 20 episodes and dates the season finale, identified as Season 23, Episode 20, to May 12, 2026. That season-specific material does not read as confirmation that the character was replaced.

The Paramount+ Season 23 guide also provides the season’s episode descriptions and dates. Episode listings can clarify what the season covered, but they should not be mistaken for a separate cast-change announcement.
How current cast listings fit in
CBS’s current series page describes the team as including “senior agent Timothy McGee.” It is a present-day series description, not a complete account of every episode or an episode-by-episode cast record.

Separately, Paramount Press Express identifies Sean Murray as portraying Special Agent Timothy McGee and includes him in its Season 24 cast information. That is useful context for the later season; it should not be used to rewrite Season 23 history. Taken together, these official pages do not establish that CBS announced a replacement for McGee in Season 23.
Is McGee leaving NCIS or being replaced?
The official sources cited here do not confirm that McGee left or was replaced in Season 23, and they do not identify a replacement candidate. A rumor, promotional phrase, or video title is not equivalent to a network or studio announcement. The wording “CBS quietly confirms” should therefore not be treated as a verified statement: the available official cast and episode information does not substantiate it.
