The two-hour special was filmed at Belmont University’s Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in Nashville; its originally announced CMT premiere was August 15, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT. That date is historical, and current viewing availability is not established here.
Who performed in the Alabama tribute?
The published performance rundown, reported by Billboard Country Update on August 9, 2024, lists Alabama alongside guest performers including Blake Shelton, Little Big Town, Jason Aldean and others. It describes an invitation-only concert taped at the Fisher Center; the rundown should not be treated as a complete broadcast transcript.
| Performer | Song listed |
|---|---|
| Alabama | “Mountain Music” and “My Home’s in Alabama” |
| Jason Aldean | “Love in the First Degree” |
| Riley Green | “Dixieland Delight” |
| Sam Hunt | “Song of the South” |
| Jamey Johnson | “Angels Among Us” |
| Little Big Town | “The Closer You Get” |
| Old Dominion | “Roll On” |
| Brad Paisley | “Old Alabama” |
| Blake Shelton with Steve Wariner and Kara Britz | “Old Flame” |
| Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan | “Feels So Right” |
Riley Green’s “Dixieland Delight” has a particular connection to Alabama football: Billboard noted that the 1983 hit has become a rallying cry for Crimson Tide fans at games.
What was the special, and when did it air?
The Alabama band announced the project in January 2024 as a two-hour tribute to be filmed at Belmont University’s Fisher Center in Nashville. MCA’s July 18, 2024 announcement gave the original premiere time: Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT, exclusively on CMT. The announcements establish the scheduled premiere, not where the special can be watched now.

MCA relayed CMT’s description of the program as “a star-studded salute celebrating the extraordinary career and music of one of the most successful and iconic country groups of all time.” That is promotional language, rather than an independently measured ranking.
Beyond the performances: stories and archive material
The special was presented as more than a concert. CMT’s announcement described personal stories, rare photographs, archival performance footage, interviews, and a new sit-down with Alabama. Story contributors named included Evander Holyfield, Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, Martina McBride, and Vince Gill, appearing in person or virtually; they should not all be described as musical performers.

How the tribute songs connect to Alabama’s originals
The rundown pairs each guest with an Alabama song, making the band’s own recordings the natural point of comparison—not a basis for ranking the tribute versions. For listeners who want to hear the originals, Alabama’s official discography lists releases including The Closer You Get, Roll On, Greatest Hits Vol. 1, and Greatest Hits Vol. 2. Apple Music catalogs Alabama: Greatest Hits as a 1986 album, including “Old Flame” and “Feels So Right.” Spotify lists The Closer You Get… as a 1983 album containing the title track performed by Little Big Town in the special.
These catalog references identify the original recordings; they do not establish current physical stock or the special’s streaming or purchase availability.
