Britney Spears posted a wedding-dress video on Instagram on October 20, 2024, with the caption, “The day I married myself.” The phrase described a personal gesture, not an announcement of a legal marriage. TMZ reported that the footage was a throwback to December 2022, so the post date and the date the clip was filmed are different.
What Spears posted—and what she wrote
In the video, Spears wore a white, ankle-length silk dress and a lace veil. Salon reported that Sting’s “Fields of Gold” played in the clip. Her caption read: “The day I married myself … Bringing it back because it might seem embarrassing or stupid, but I think it’s the most brilliant thing I’ve ever done !!!” Salon reproduced the caption and described the video.
When was the video filmed?
Spears shared the clip on October 20, 2024. TMZ reported that the footage was a throwback to December 2022; that reported filming period should not be confused with the date she posted it. TMZ attributed the December 2022 timing to the video.
Did Britney Spears legally marry herself?
The coverage presents “married myself” as Spears’s own description of a personal gesture. It does not establish that she took part in a legal marriage ceremony to herself or that the video announced a change in her legal marital status.
