What the Season 2 trailer sets up
Hulu unveiled the trailer at its Get Real event in Beverly Hills on April 22, 2025, according to ABC News. Hulu’s press site also lists the official trailer.
The official Disney+ UK announcement frames the season around the return of an “original swinger” from the group’s infamous scandal. Its promotional synopsis promises friendships under pressure, secrets, lies and allegations, asking whether betrayal will break the sisterhood or truth will set it free. That language describes the show’s pitch, not a verified account of events outside the series.
Miranda McWhorter brings the old scandal back
Miranda McWhorter is the trailer’s clearest link to the original controversy. ABC News identifies her as Taylor Frankie Paul’s ex-best friend and quotes her saying, “I’m gonna set the record straight on the swinging scandal.” The trailer presents her return as a potential challenge to the group’s existing relationships; it does not establish whose version of the past is accurate.

The season announcement lists McWhorter as a new addition alongside Taylor Frankie Paul, Demi Engemann, Jen Affleck, Jessi Ngatikaura, Layla Taylor, Mayci Neeley, Mikayla Matthews and Whitney Leavitt.
Whitney Leavitt appears to test a way back in
ABC’s account of the trailer says Leavitt appears to want to rejoin the group and meets resistance from the other women. The footage therefore sets up a second kind of tension: whether a person can return to a circle after relationships have shifted, and who gets to decide whether she belongs. It is a preview of the conflict, not a resolution.

Paul, Mortensen and an Italy detour
The trailer also includes footage involving Paul and Dakota Mortensen, as well as a visit to Italy during Vanderpump Villa, ABC News reports. The Italy sequence widens the setting beyond the group’s usual social circle, while the trailer’s mention of Paul and Mortensen signals that their relationship is part of the season’s material. The available trailer report does not establish more specific outcomes from either thread.
