Brad Pitt’s Billy Beane wears a TAG Heuer Kirium, identified by TAG Heuer as reference WL1113. The watch reportedly began as a crew member’s personal watch: Pitt chose it from three options, and watch expert Jeff Stein helped production find backup examples for continuity.
Which TAG Heuer does Brad Pitt wear in Moneyball?
TAG Heuer identifies Pitt’s watch as a Kirium WL1113 in its watch-spotting account. Hodinkee also identifies the chosen watch as a Kirium, while describing its pictured example as similar to the one seen in the film. The reference number is therefore best attributed to TAG Heuer’s identification, rather than assumed from every watch pictured alongside the story.
TAG Heuer describes the WL1113 as a late-1990s Professional-collection model with a midnight-blue dial, Mercedes-style hands, a unidirectional rotating dive bezel, an integrated stainless-steel bracelet and 200-metre water resistance.
How did the watch end up in the film?
According to TAG Heuer and Hodinkee’s account, the property master presented Pitt with three watch options on the first day of filming. Pitt chose one that belonged to a crew member.

That choice created a practical continuity problem: the production needed the same watch available across filming, but the original belonged to someone on the crew. Jeff Stein, a TAG Heuer enthusiast and watch-community figure, helped identify the model and locate substitutes. In a contemporaneous 2011 TimeZone forum post, Stein said he rounded up three WL1113 examples for the prop master. Those backup watches allowed the production to maintain continuity while returning the crew member’s watch.
Why does a late-1990s Kirium fit the story?
Moneyball follows the Oakland Athletics during the 2002 baseball season. Hodinkee notes that the Kirium’s late-1990s production period made it a plausible fit for that setting. Its understated, functional appearance also suits Billy Beane’s practical character, though that character fit is an interpretation rather than a documented reason Pitt selected it.

What does the old sourcing price mean?
Stein’s 2011 account says he found three examples in the $400–$500 range. That figure describes what he sourced at that time; it is not a current market valuation. The cited coverage does not establish present-day availability or pricing, so anyone looking for a pre-owned WL1113 should assess the condition, completeness and seller documentation of individual listings rather than rely on that historical amount.
