In episode four, “Tadpole Smoothie,” filmmaker Lisa (Rosa Salazar) gives birth to a kitten through a gash in her side, according to BGR’s description of the sequence. It is graphic body horror, not a scene spelled out in Netflix’s episode synopsis.
What happens in the kitten scene?
Lisa seeks a curse from a witch figure played by Catherine Keener. BGR reports that Lisa starts vomiting kittens; after she asks for the vomiting to stop, the consequence is a kitten being born through a gash in her side. The witch doctor’s lackey is played by Mark Acheson. These details come from BGR’s account, rather than Netflix’s brief official synopsis.
The sequence is surreal body horror: the kittens are part of the show’s supernatural revenge story, not a realistic event. BGR also reports that the series’ executive producers, showrunners, and writers described their aim collectively: “We want the show to feel like a nightmare.” The statement is not attributed to one named speaker.
Which episode is it in?
The kitten-birth scene is in episode four, “Tadpole Smoothie,” according to BGR. Netflix’s episode listing confirms the title. Its synopsis describes chaos, Lou confronting Lisa, clues to Boro’s past, and “a new opening,” but does not identify the kitten scene: Netflix’s official series listing.

What is Brand New Cherry Flavor about?
Netflix describes the series as following a filmmaker who goes to early-1990s Hollywood to make her movie and falls into a hallucinatory world of “sex, magic, revenge — and kittens.” It is a horror limited series created by Lenore Zion and Nick Antosca, starring Rosa Salazar, Eric Lange, and Catherine Keener. Not specifically. Netflix’s general synopsis mentions kittens and hallucinatory horror, while its synopsis for “Tadpole Smoothie” does not describe the birth scene.
