Yhwach is the founder of the Quincies and leader of the Wandenreich. The official sources establish that he uses Auswählen to regain strength and frame The Almighty as an ability he ultimately surpasses—but they do not explain its mechanics or provide a complete inventory of his powers. This guide separates those confirmed points from details that require direct manga verification.
Who is Yhwach?
The official Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War character profile identifies Yhwach as the “Founder of the Quincies and leader of the ‘Wandenreich.’” That establishes his position in the conflict: he leads the Quincy force opposing the Soul Society, rather than being simply another combatant in the war.
What does Auswählen do?
The same official profile says Yhwach performed a selection process called Auswählen “to regain his 9 years of strength quoted in the Kaiser Gesang.” This supports a specific restorative role: the profile connects the selection to Yhwach regaining strength. It does not, by itself, explain every condition or consequence of the process, so broader claims about its operation should be checked against the manga.
What is The Almighty?
VIZ’s official BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 4 synopsis describes a point in the story by saying, “Yhwach has surpassed even his own ability, The Almighty…” This is useful confirmation that The Almighty is identified as Yhwach’s ability and that the story frames him as going beyond it. The synopsis does not specify how the ability works, what it can affect, or what limits it has.

Accordingly, that official promotional wording cannot settle common mechanic-by-mechanic questions about The Almighty. Precise explanations of its operation, timing, scope, or weaknesses need to be grounded in the relevant manga scenes; they should not be inferred from the synopsis alone.
What is established—and what remains unconfirmed here?
| Subject | What the official material establishes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Yhwach’s role | The official anime profile calls him founder of the Quincies and leader of the Wandenreich. | A complete account of his history or every power he possesses. |
| Auswählen | The profile says he performed it to regain the strength described in the Kaiser Gesang. | A full explanation of its mechanics and effects. |
| The Almighty | VIZ’s Part 4 synopsis calls it Yhwach’s ability and says he has surpassed it. | Its detailed mechanics, limits, or a chapter-by-chapter account of its use. |
This distinction matters because a concise official synopsis is not a technical guide to the manga’s power system. Without direct chapter support, claims that assign The Almighty a precise rule or limitation go beyond what these official descriptions confirm.

How does Yhwach’s power connect to the Soul King?
Yhwach’s abilities matter within a conflict with consequences beyond the battlefield. VIZ’s announcement for BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3 says the Royal Guard confronts Yhwach as he attempts to enter the Royal Palace, and describes Ichigo cutting down the Soul King as a result of Yhwach’s trickery. VIZ frames the Soul King’s death as mirroring the collapse of the Three Worlds. That is the larger narrative stake: Yhwach’s campaign threatens the structure that holds those worlds together.

Bandai Namco’s BLEACH Rebirth of Souls announcement describes a game progression system in which Yhwach unlocks moves and transformations through Kaiser Gesang progression; it also says his Sankt Bogen changes from bow to sword as his power grows. Those are descriptions of the game’s systems and presentation, not evidence that the manga establishes the same progression as a canon power mechanic.
