The federal trial in Blake Lively’s lawsuit against Justin Baldoni was scheduled to begin with jury selection on May 18, 2026. It did not happen: the parties filed a settlement notice on May 7, before the scheduled date. The settlement closed Lively’s case, though a separate fee motion in a related case remained pending.
When was Blake Lively’s trial against Justin Baldoni scheduled?
The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York set May 18, 2026, for jury selection in Lively v. Wayfarer Studios LLC, case 24-cv-10049. That was a scheduled start date, not a trial that ultimately took place. The court’s opinion and case record document the date and the subsequent settlement filing.

Did the case go to trial?
No. On May 7, 2026, the parties filed a settlement notice and joint stipulation, 11 days before the scheduled jury selection. The Associated Press reported that the settlement terms were not disclosed in its settlement coverage. The parties said through their lawyers that they hoped the agreement would bring closure and allow everyone involved to move forward constructively and in peace.
What claims had been expected to go before a jury?
Lively filed her federal lawsuit on December 31, 2024, after making a complaint to California’s Civil Rights Department. She alleged sexual harassment and retaliation connected to production of the 2024 film It Ends With Us; those allegations are not findings that the conduct occurred.

On April 2, 2026, Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed Lively’s sexual-harassment claims. Three claims, including retaliation, remained at that point for the scheduled trial, according to the Associated Press’s report on the ruling. The later settlement meant those remaining claims were not tried.
Why did a separate legal matter continue?
The settlement resolved the Lively Action, but it did not release Lively’s pending motion under California Civil Code Section 47.1 in a related case, Wayfarer Studios LLC v. Lively, case 25-cv-449. The stipulation preserved her claims and remedies connected with that motion for attorney fees, treble damages, and punitive damages. The Wayfarer parties’ countersuit had been dismissed in June 2025, with final judgment entered on October 31, 2025; the later motion was a distinct remaining issue, not a continuation of the settled trial.

What did the later fee ruling award?
In August 2026, the judge awarded Lively $363,245 in attorney fees and $44,206 in costs in connection with the Section 47.1 motion, according to the Associated Press’s report on the ruling. AP reported that Lively had sought $8 million in legal costs. The award was a ruling on fees and costs in the separate matter—not a jury verdict, damages award, or disclosed settlement payment. The parties waived appeal from the court’s determination of that motion.
