Fullbringers are humans who can draw out and use the souls residing in matter. Their powers are linked, in the explanation Kūgo Ginjō gives Ichigo, to Hollow attacks on their parents before they were born. That makes “human Hollows” a suggestive description of their origin—not a literal classification: Fullbringers remain humans with a special ability, not Hollows or Arrancar.
What is Fullbring?
Fullbring is the ability to manipulate the soul inside an object. In the official Shonen Jump synopsis, Xcution describes it as drawing out and using the soul residing in matter. A Fullbringer can bring out an object’s qualities in a new form, often through an object with personal meaning to them.
Chad’s Right Arm of the Giant is one example. The power is not simply ordinary physical strength or a weapon: it is a spiritual ability expressed through matter. The exact form depends on the Fullbringer and the object or focus associated with that person.
Why are Fullbringers connected to Hollows?
In the Lost Agent arc, Ginjō tells Ichigo that Xcution’s members inherited their powers after Hollows attacked their parents before their birth. This is the group’s explanation for why their abilities are tied to Hollow influence. The official manga synopsis presents the same account as part of Xcution’s pitch to Ichigo.

Keep the attribution in mind: this is the explanation Ginjō gives within that arc. It establishes the story’s Hollow connection without making Fullbringers a separate class of Hollow. The manga-era explanation and any additional lore from later material should not be treated as interchangeable unless that later source is checked directly.
Are Fullbringers human or Hollows?
They are humans who possess Fullbring. “Human Hollows” can work as shorthand for the Hollow-related origin Ginjō describes, but it is not a precise species label. Fullbringers are not presented in the cited manga synopsis as Hollows, Arrancar, or a new Hollow subtype.

That distinction matters because the Hollow connection explains the source or influence behind the ability; it does not erase the person’s humanity. Fullbring itself is the power, and a Fullbringer is someone who uses it.
Who are Xcution?
Xcution is the group led by Ginjō. Its members tell Ichigo they are humans with special abilities called Fullbring, and they offer to help him regain his lost Soul Reaper powers. They also say they want to be rid of their own abilities. Chad supports Ichigo as he trains with the group.

The offer is not the whole story. In the anime adaptation, the Lost Agent arc spans episodes 343–366. Ichigo trains with Xcution and develops his Fullbring, while Tsukishima’s Book of the End changes how people experience their past with Ichigo. The official Studio Pierrot episode guide later explains that Ginjō and Tsukishima arranged events to take Ichigo’s Soul Reaper power.
What did Ginjō want from Ichigo?
Ginjō’s plan is tied to his grievance against Soul Society and the treatment of Substitute Soul Reapers. The episode guide explains that the Substitute badge was used to monitor substitutes and control their spiritual pressure. Ginjō revolts against that system, and Xcution’s recruitment of Ichigo becomes part of a plan to obtain his Soul Reaper power.

That reveal reframes the badge and the group’s offer: the badge was not merely a token of Ichigo’s status, and Xcution’s help came with a concealed agenda. The arc ends with Ichigo recovering his Soul Reaper powers and defeating Ginjō; afterward, Ichigo asks for Ginjō to be buried in the Human World.
