What happens in the commercial?
Sally adds Hellmann’s mayonnaise to a turkey sandwich while sitting with Harry at Katz’s. Sydney Sweeney appears as herself and delivers the callback line, “I’ll Have What She’s Having.” The ad redirects the original scene’s punch line toward Sally’s reaction to the sandwich.
Hellmann’s announced the commercial on January 29, 2025, and said it was scheduled to air during the second quarter of the U.S. Big Game broadcast. Hellmann’s announcement identifies VML as the creative agency and says the commercial was filmed at the same Katz’s table used in the movie scene.
Why revisit the scene?
The commercial borrows the recognition and humor of a well-known moment from When Harry Met Sally and gives it a food-focused twist: mayonnaise makes an ordinary sandwich the object of Sally’s enthusiasm. VML described the campaign as a celebration of the film’s 35th anniversary and a way to show how Hellmann’s could make a sandwich extraordinary. The film was used under license from Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products.
