The caption, as reproduced by American Songwriter, opened, “Happy 10th birthday Della Rose,” and praised her “sweet nature, empathy for others and endless love.” Joel wrote that she sees everything “through caring eyes,” added that the family could not ask for anything more, and wondered how they had reached 10 years already.
What the “Piano Man” throwback video showed
The post also included a home video from when Della was much younger. In the exchange reported by American Songwriter, she tells Joel, “I was looking for Piano Man,” then greets him, “Hi, Piano Man!” He answers, “Hi, singing girl!” Joel’s caption recalled her running around the house looking for “Piano Man.”
