Mayer joined Joel for “This Is the Time”; Rose’s appearance reunited the pair after they had performed together in 2008.
Joel’s Intuit Dome debut brought two distinct guest appearances
The concert took place on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at the newly opened Intuit Dome in Inglewood, just outside Los Angeles. JamBase reported that Mayer appeared during Joel’s main set, while NME covered Rose’s appearance as a reunion. The guests’ reported connections to Joel were different: Mayer joined him for a specific song, and Rose had a prior performance history with him.

John Mayer joined Joel for “This Is the Time”
JamBase reports that Mayer performed “This Is the Time” with Joel. The song appeared on Joel’s 1986 album The Bridge.
Joel introduced Mayer with praise for his guitar playing: “This is a great guitarist. I admire this guy’s chops. He’s got this fluid technique, he’s great. Please welcome, John Mayer!”

JamBase also notes that Mayer had previously joined Joel for the song on Joel’s live album Live at Shea Stadium. That connection links the Intuit Dome performance to an earlier live release, rather than establishing a new collaboration between the musicians.
Axl Rose’s appearance was a reunion, not a first pairing
NME reports that Rose also appeared at the concert and describes the Joel–Rose pairing as a reunion. The two had performed “Live and Let Die” together in 2008, according to NME. The available reporting cited here does not establish a complete list of songs Rose performed at the Intuit Dome, so no additional 2024 song titles should be inferred.
