The best Police Academy figures to collect depend on which character or version you want and whether completeness or display condition matters most. Kenner’s vintage line is associated with the animated series and is listed by collector reference Toy Archive in three groups spanning 1989 to late 1990. When comparing a listing, check the exact version, what accessories are included, and whether it is loose or packaged; the character name alone may not tell you which toy is being offered.
What was in Kenner’s Police Academy action-figure line?
Toy Archive’s collector checklist divides the figures into three groups. These dates and names are useful identification leads, but the checklist is not an original Kenner catalog, so treat them as collector-reference information rather than manufacturer-confirmed release details. See the Toy Archive checklist.
First Series (1989, according to Toy Archive)
- Carey Mahoney
- Claw
- Eugene Tackleberry
- Larvel Jones
- Moses Hightower
- Mr. Sleaze
- Numbskull
- Zed
Second Series (1990, according to Toy Archive)
- Captain Harris, listed as a mail-away figure
- Two Flung Hi outfits
- Karate Larvel Jones
- Kingpin
- S.W.A.T. Eugene Tackleberry
Special Assignment Rookies (late 1990, according to Toy Archive)
- Sky Gliden’ Zed
- Undercover Carey Mahoney
- Snack Attack House
- Stakeout Sweetchuck
Those variant names matter when matching a listing to a particular collectible. For example, a Carey Mahoney listing could refer to the first-series figure or the Undercover version; check the seller’s photos and description rather than relying on the character name alone.
Figures were only part of the collectible range
Toy Archive also lists vehicles and playsets, including the Crash Cycle, Crash Cruiser, and Precinct Police Station. Its checklist includes accessories and other items such as the Cadet Set, Handcuffers, Loudmouth Bullhorn, Order Enforcer, Wacky Wallet, and Gas Gushers. The archive distinguishes some concepts it identifies as unproduced from items it says were later found or produced, so those claims should be checked against its individual entries rather than treated as a single confirmed release list.

The Precinct Police Station is identified as a Kenner playset in the Figure Realm database. That entry gives a 1988 release year and UPC 0 76281 66210 7, describes a trap door, swinging ladder, and jail-break mechanism, and says figures were sold separately. These are database details, not verified here against original packaging. See the Figure Realm Precinct Police Station entry.
How to compare Police Academy figure listings
Use the listing’s exact photos and description to distinguish the item being sold and assess its condition. A specialist retailer catalog shows that collectibles from this line may be presented as figures, vehicles, playsets, or accessories, but it does not establish a grading standard or fair market value. Its stock status can also change; a catalog listing does not confirm availability elsewhere. See the ActionFiguresandComics Police Academy catalog.

- Classic Design – Detailed 2023 BMW i4 Police Sedan replica in bold green finish with authentic Match box styling.
- Durable Die-Cast Build – Crafted from high-quality materials for long-lasting play and collection value.
- Perfect Gift – Ideal for kids 3+ years, collectors, and car enthusiasts.
- Versatile Play – Great for imaginative play, racing, or as part of a larger Hot Wheels/Match box set.
- Collectible Model–making it a standout piece in any Hot Wheels or Match box collection.
- Identify the character and version. Compare the name and appearance with the checklist, including special versions and outfits. For a mail-away listing such as Captain Harris, ask the seller to clarify exactly what is included.
- Check whether it is loose or packaged. A loose figure and a packaged example are different presentations. Make sure the listing’s photos show the form being offered and, if packaging is included, its condition.
- Confirm accessory completeness. Ask which accessories are included and compare them with the listing’s photos and description. Do not assume an accessory is included just because it appears in a promotional or reference image.
- Inspect visible condition. Review the figure and any packaging in the actual listing photos. Look for wear, damage, or missing parts that matter to your collecting goals; the references here do not provide a standardized grading system.
- Make sure the listing is for the item you want. A figure, vehicle, playset, and accessory are distinct collectibles. Read the title and description carefully, particularly when a listing groups related items together.
What this checklist can—and cannot—tell collectors
The collector references support treating Kenner’s Police Academy toys as a broader vintage category, with figures and related playsets, vehicles, and accessories. They are a practical starting point for identifying names and versions, not proof of rarity, current availability, authenticity, or a fair asking price. No transaction-based pricing or validated rarity data is established here, so compare the specific item and seller evidence rather than treating a checklist label as a value ranking.
