These percentages are Amazon’s own promotional statements, not results from an independent study. “Up to” identifies the highest advertised discount, not the typical discount or the saving on every hardcover, paperback, or Kindle edition.

How to tell whether a book offer is actually a good deal
- Choose the exact book and format. Confirm the title and author, then select hardcover, paperback, or Kindle. Different editions can have different prices and availability.
- Read the live price for that edition. Compare the current listing price with the displayed reference price, if one is shown. Do not apply an event-wide maximum to an individual title.
- Check availability and terms. Make sure the print edition is in stock or the Kindle edition is available, and review any membership or other offer conditions shown on that listing. Amazon describes these events as Prime-member sales, but its announcements do not establish that every book listing was restricted to Prime members.
- Confirm the sale is active. An old event announcement or expired deal page cannot establish a current offer. The live listing is the relevant place to verify today’s price and availability.
What to expect from Kindle and print-book offers
Amazon’s June 2026 announcement covered both print books and selected Kindle titles; the October announcement highlighted print-book deals. That does not mean every title appeared in every format, or that the Kindle price matched the hardcover or paperback price.
