How Beyoncé’s version relates to the Beatles’ “Blackbird”
“BLACKBIIRD” reworks “Blackbird,” the Beatles song written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon and released on the 1968 album The Beatles, commonly called the White Album. Beyoncé’s version keeps the Lennon–McCartney songwriting credit, while the official credits name Beyoncé and McCartney as its producers. The added voices of Spencer, Kennedy, Roberts, and Adell make this rendition a collaboration with contemporary Black country artists, rather than simply a new solo recording.

Why the collaboration mattered for representation
Grammy coverage described the featured singers as rising Black stars in country. For the artists, being heard on a major album offered visibility in a genre where Black performers have often been less visible. That context is especially personal for Reyna Roberts: in an April 15, 2024, Associated Press report, she said, “It’s hard to be in a space if you don’t see a representation of yourself.” The AP also reported that Roberts’s musical ambitions had been questioned; that is her reported experience, not evidence that all four singers faced the same barriers.
It is reasonable to describe the track as an act of inclusion and a prominent platform. The available evidence does not establish how much it changed any individual singer’s streams, bookings, sales, or career trajectory, so “boosts” should not be read as a measured or proven career outcome.

Where “BLACKBIIRD” sits on COWBOY CARTER
Beyoncé released COWBOY CARTER worldwide on March 29, 2024. Apple Music lists 27 songs and a total runtime of 1 hour 18 minutes. Sony Music Canada’s release announcement said Beyoncé became the first Black female artist to reach No. 1 on both the Hot Country Songs chart and the Hot 100 with a country song; that chart claim is Sony’s attribution.
The album has an official two-disc vinyl edition whose track list includes “BLACKBIIRD.” Beyoncé’s store describes two 180-gram black discs, printed inner sleeves, a 40-page booklet, and a folded 24-by-36-inch poster. Its listing showed a waitlist when checked, and stock or retail availability can change. See the COWBOY CARTER official vinyl listing.
