Why does Ben Affleck call the ad cringe?
“Cringe” is the joke Affleck’s character uses to pitch the supposedly embarrassing 1995 pilot as something audiences will want to watch now. His confidence clashes with Aniston’s immediate objection, while LeBlanc’s half-hearted reassurance keeps the scene in the register of a knowingly awkward sitcom reunion. It is dialogue in a scripted ad, not evidence of the actors’ personal opinions about the campaign.

Dunkin’ announced a Super Bowl Monday giveaway of 1.995 million coffees, tying the quantity to the campaign’s 1995 setting. The company said the offer was redeemable through its app on February 9, 2026, subject to offer terms and limits. That date has passed, so it is not a currently available promotion.
The brand also named vintage-style mugs and tumblers in a limited ’90s-inspired merchandise drop. The announcement does not establish whether any items are still in stock or available through a particular retailer.

Why the 1995 story is fictional
The imagined Cambridge shop and iced-coffee breakthrough belong to the sitcom’s premise. Dunkin’s announcement uses them to place the campaign in a nostalgic 1990s setting; it does not establish that this fictional event was the real origin of the company’s iced coffee. The brand’s announcement describes that framing as an imaginative collision between sitcom culture and Dunkin’.
