A May 2024 report attributed the claim to industry rumor source Daniel Richtman, but named no role and said it was not a return as Daredevil. Meanwhile, DC has announced a new connected universe in which Affleck is not its Batman—a change often summarized as the end of the “Snyderverse,” though DC did not use that phrase.
What is the source of the MCU rumor?
A May 2024 entertainment report said Affleck was reportedly “in talks with Marvel to join the MCU,” attributing the claim to Daniel Richtman. The report did not provide an official Marvel, Disney, or Affleck confirmation, and it did not establish that talks had resulted in an agreement or casting. Read the May 2024 report.
That makes this a piece of attributed industry speculation, not settled news. The available information does not identify a project, character, contract, or appearance date.
Is Affleck rumored to return as Daredevil?
No. The report explicitly says the rumored MCU role is not Daredevil, but it does not name another character. Affleck previously played Daredevil in the 2003 film, giving the rumor an obvious connection to his earlier Marvel association; that history does not establish that the reported role would revisit the character.

What does “the Snyderverse is dead” mean?
It is shorthand for a shift in DC’s film continuity, not wording DC used in an official announcement. In 2013, DC announced Affleck as Batman and described the film as continuing the vision Snyder established with Man of Steel. DC’s 2013 Batman announcement.
In 2023, DC described a new connected universe and said its Batman would not be Affleck. The announcement also noted Affleck’s interest in directing one of DC Studios’ projects. This confirms a change in the studio’s continuity plans; it does not establish that DC officially declared every project or fan use of the term “Snyderverse” dead. DC’s 2023 announcement.

What an MCU appearance could—and could not—mean
If the rumor were eventually confirmed, it would concern an unspecified MCU role, according to the report. There is no supported basis here to identify a character, predict a cameo, or say when an appearance might happen. The report’s distinction is narrow: it says the rumored role is not Daredevil, without telling readers what it is.
No official confirmation from Marvel, Disney, or Affleck is established in the cited material. Any later announcement would change the status of the claim; until then, the accurate description is an unconfirmed report.
