As of January 1, 2025, Bell Media’s Discovery channel in Canada became USA Network, and its Investigation Discovery channel became Oxygen True Crime. The rebrands followed a content and licensing agreement with NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution. Bell announced a mix of entertainment, sports and Canadian programming for USA Network, and investigative and true-crime shows for Oxygen True Crime.
What changed on January 1, 2025?
Bell Media renamed two channels in its Canadian specialty lineup: Discovery became USA Network, while Investigation Discovery became Oxygen True Crime. Bell described this as a Canadian rebrand under a content and licensing agreement with NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution, rather than the launch of two new standalone products. Bell’s October 17, 2024 announcement set out the agreement and the effective date.

For viewers, the main change was the channel name and the programming identity Bell announced for each service. If you are looking for the former Discovery or Investigation Discovery channels in a provider’s listings, check for the new names.
What was announced for USA Network?
Bell described USA Network as a mix of returning Discovery favorites, scripted and unscripted series, Canadian originals, movies and sports. Launch-era examples included Suits, The Traitors, Highway Thru Hell, East Harbour Heroes and the The Mighty franchise. A December 2024 follow-up also named AEW Collision and the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
#1 Best Overall
Those titles are examples from Bell’s launch announcements, not a complete schedule or a promise that each remains available now. Bell’s description of USA Network as one of the top three cable channels in the United States did not include a figure, year or methodology, so it should be treated as Bell’s characterization rather than a quantified ranking.
What was announced for Oxygen True Crime?
Bell positioned Oxygen True Crime as a destination for investigative and true-crime programming. Launch-era examples included Forensic Factor, Fear Thy Neighbour, Snapped and Dateline: Secrets Uncovered. Bell’s December 2024 announcement also named Prosecuting Evil with Kelly Siegler, Dateline: Unforgettable and New York Homicide.

These are programming examples announced around the rebrand, not a guarantee of the current lineup. Bell’s description of Oxygen True Crime as one of the fastest-growing cable entertainment networks in the United States was not accompanied by a figure, year or methodology.
Where can Canadians watch the channels?
Bell’s launch announcement said selected popular shows and all new series from both channels would also be available on Crave. Bell’s channel materials identify linear television, on-demand viewing through CTV.ca and the CTV app, and Crave as viewing routes for Bell Media specialty-channel programming. Access to a particular channel or program can depend on provider, package and current catalog availability.

- On Crave: Bell announced selected popular shows and all new series from both channels for Crave. That announcement does not mean every episode or title is always in the catalog.
A January 2026 Crave overview listed episodes of Snapped and other programs identified as following Oxygen True Crime, showing that Oxygen-branded programming appeared in a dated Crave schedule after launch. A schedule listing is not a guarantee of current availability. See Bell’s January 2026 Crave overview.

Bell announced a nationwide free preview of both channels through participating providers from January 1 to February 28, 2025. That was a limited launch promotion and has ended; it should not be mistaken for current free access.
In a July 29, 2025 distribution announcement, Bell and Rogers said Rogers Xfinity customers would continue to have access to Bell Media specialty channels, including USA Network and Oxygen True Crime. The announcement does not establish a complete current provider list, channel numbers, package terms or subscription prices. Confirm current carriage and package inclusion with your provider.
