Which songs feature Bob Dylan and Paul McCartney?
- Bob Dylan: “The Very Thought of You,” Ray Noble’s standard.
- Paul McCartney: “My Valentine,” a song written by McCartney.
The Dylan collaboration had been a long time coming. Streisand told the Associated Press that Dylan sent her flowers in 1970 with a note asking, “Would you sing with me?” For this album, Dylan wanted to sing a standard rather than one of his own songs. The AP interview reports the background to both collaborations.
McCartney said the arrangement of “My Valentine” moved between Streisand’s key and his own, making the transition difficult to work out. He told AP, “It wasn’t easy at all!” The interview says the adjustment was resolved.

Is the album available on CD and vinyl?
Yes. Streisand’s official release-day notice says the album is available on CD, vinyl, and digital formats. That confirms the formats, but not current retailer stock or the availability of a particular pressing or edition; check the seller’s live listing for those details. The official notice also carries the tracklist.
How did the album get its title?
Columbia says the title was partly inspired by a photograph taken by Streisand’s daughter-in-law, Kathryn Boyd Brolin. Streisand also connected the title to James Taylor’s lyric: “As the years go by, I’m learning that ‘the secret of life is enjoying the passage of time.’” The label identifies Taylor as a guest on the album’s title song, “Secret O’ Life.” Streisand’s official notice includes her explanation.
