Avril Lavigne’s haircut video with Yungblud dates to October 26, 2022—not a new 2026 haircut announcement. Yungblud cut her long, orange dip-dyed hair in the clip; in a later reveal that day, Lavigne showed a clean-cut long bob falling just past her shoulders. The reveal accompanied news of their single “I’m a Mess.”
What happened in the haircut video?
In a video Lavigne shared on October 26, 2022, Yungblud cut her long, orange dip-dyed hair while she sat on a toilet. Allure’s same-day report described the initial clip and noted that it did not yet show the finished look. Allure reported on the video.
What did Avril Lavigne’s haircut look like?
In a later reveal, E! News described the result as a clean-cut long bob that fell just past her shoulders. Lavigne reacted, “I can’t believe we did this to my hair hahah.” E! News covered the reveal.
Why did Lavigne and Yungblud share the clip?
The haircut reveal was tied to the announcement of “I’m a Mess,” Lavigne and Yungblud’s collaboration. NME also connected the video with a teased collaboration, while E! linked the finished-look reveal to the single announcement. NME’s October 2022 report noted that Lavigne said “I need a beer” at the start of the clip.

Was the cut hair made up of extensions?
Allure speculated that much of the hair shown being cut could have been extensions, but that was not confirmed in the reporting. The video and coverage do not establish how much of Lavigne’s natural hair was cut.
Was this a haircut tutorial?
No. The reports document a celebrity haircut video, not a professional technique or recommended way to cut hair. Allure closed its coverage with the warning, “Don’t try this at home, folks.”
