Katy Perry fell during a practice waltz with Robert Irwin at Australia Zoo, after asking him for a dip. The clumsy moment happened during Perry’s Australian tour and Irwin’s preparation for an expected appearance on Dancing with the Stars.
Why Katy Perry and Robert Irwin were dancing
Perry visited Australia Zoo during the Queensland leg of her Lifetimes Tour. In a video from the visit, she approached Irwin, who was wearing his Australia Zoo uniform, and suggested a practice dance because he was due to appear on Dancing with the Stars.

ABC Audio reported Perry’s explanation from the video: “I thought that maybe we should do a practice round here at Australia Zoo.”
How the fall happened
The pair tried a waltz. When Perry asked Irwin to dip her, he let her go and she fell to the floor. PerthNow reported that she joked, “Maybe stick with the animals,” as Irwin helped her back up. The reports describe a joking, awkward dance moment; they do not establish that Perry was injured or that the fall was intentional.
