How was it received?
In his April 26, 1996 review for the Los Angeles Times, film critic Kenneth Turan praised the film’s atmosphere and performances but faulted its finesse. His pointed summary was: “Not unlike a nuclear weapon, ‘Mulholland Falls’ goes about its business without a trace of finesse.” That is one critic’s contemporary assessment, not a consensus verdict.
