Gizmodo attributed this statement to Purnell: “Here’s the truth, and I feel guilty saying this, but I’m not a gamer, and I don’t know how I’ve managed to land two video game adaptations that have both been good. I don’t know how that’s happened, but it has. I don’t know the answer,”
She also reportedly said: “I actually think I need to stay away from video game adaptations now, because I’m going to get typecast. I’m going to be the video game girl. There are worse things to be than that, I suppose.”

Was she announcing that she would quit video-game adaptations?
No confirmed career decision follows from the reports. Purnell described a thought about avoiding typecasting, then softened it by acknowledging that being known for such roles would not be the worst outcome. The remarks are best understood as a concern she voiced in a panel discussion—not a binding promise to turn down future adaptations.
Why the “video game girl” label came up
Purnell is known for playing Lucy MacLean in Prime Video’s Fallout and voicing Jinx in Netflix’s Arcane. Her comment that she is not a gamer was her own description. It does not establish how familiar she is with either source property, nor does it mean she lacks interest in acting in adaptations. In context, she expressed uncertainty about landing two successful projects in the category and concern that audiences or casting decision-makers might reduce her to it.
