Andrea Canning has built two related but distinct careers: she is a broadcast journalist known for her work as a Dateline correspondent, and a screenwriter whose credits include movies for Lifetime and Hallmark Channel. Selected movie titles include USS Christmas, A Paris Proposal, House of Deadly Secrets and Til Ex Do Us Part; those examples are not a complete or independently verified filmography.
Is Andrea Canning on Dateline?
A 2022 interview described Canning as a Dateline correspondent and said she began working on the program in 2012. Her documented broadcast career began earlier: ABC News reported on June 20, 2011, that she had joined the network in 2004, first reporting for ABC NewsOne in Washington, D.C. Her assignments included the White House, Congress, the Supreme Court and the Iraq War.

The ABC News biography also listed her work on Good Morning America, Nightline, World News with Diane Sawyer, 20/20, World News Saturday and Sunday, World News Now and America This Morning. That is a historical account through 2011, not a complete description of her current duties.
What movies has Andrea Canning written?
Canning has written made-for-television movies for Lifetime and Hallmark Channel, according to a 2022 interview. The titles below are selected examples from secondary filmography records, not a definitive list of her credits. The cited material does not establish a verified writer credit, release year or network for each title, so those details are not assigned here.

A general filmography listing is not enough to determine whether Canning wrote, acted in or produced a particular movie. Her entertainment work includes acting appearances in at least some television movies, but that does not mean she appears in every film she writes.
How do her reporting and movie-writing careers connect?
Both roles can draw on mystery and crime, but they are different kinds of work: reporting investigates real events, while a screenwriter builds fictional stories. In a 2022 Yahoo News interview about crime reporting and movie writing, Canning described the overlap this way: “Clues are swirling around me, and mystery stories and interviews with police — so the worlds definitely collide.”
