Jujutsu Kaisen Deaths: Major Manga Deaths Through Chapter 271
The Jujutsu Kaisen manga ends at chapter 271. Here are the major named deaths by story arc, with notes on temporary deaths, cursed spirits, hosts and returns.
Full manga spoilers through chapter 271 and Volume 30. The manga is complete, but there is no reliable single count of every death: lists differ on whether they include unnamed victims, group casualties, cursed spirits, incarnated sorcerers and temporary deaths. The roster below covers major named characters whose deaths are confirmed, with collective casualties and complicated returns identified separately.
Who dies in Jujutsu Kaisen?
The endpoint is chapter 271, listed in VIZ’s official chapter catalog; Shueisha identifies Volume 30 as the final volume. The names below are grouped by story phase. They include named cursed spirits as well as human characters, and they are not a census of every victim in the series.
Dies before the main story. Her death is central to the prequel; distinguish the girl from the cursed spirit associated with her afterward.
Suguru Geto
Dies in the prequel. Kenjaku later uses Geto’s body, but Geto and Kenjaku are distinct identities.

Deaths that are not final, or need a label
Yuji Itadori: Sukuna removes his heart early in the story, and Yuji temporarily dies before being revived. Do not count this as a final death.
Nobara Kugisaki: Her Shibuya injury initially leaves her fate uncertain, but she returns in the final battle. She is not a confirmed final death.
Toji Fushiguro: His Shibuya appearance follows his death in Gojo’s Past; the séance reanimation does not undo that original death.
Naoya Zenin: His cursed-spirit return is a second defeat after his human death, not a second character to add to a head count.
Geto and Kenjaku: Geto dies in the prequel; Kenjaku later occupies his body. Treating them as one person obscures two separate identities.
Tsumiki and Yorozu: The host and incarnated sorcerer are connected but distinct. The roster labels the relationship rather than counting them as unrelated victims.
Named cursed spirits: Hanami, Dagon, Jogo, Mahito and Kurourushi are nonhuman characters. They are included here because the question covers named manga characters, not only human deaths.
Why there is no definitive total
A count changes depending on whether it includes unnamed civilians and other victims, collective losses such as the Zenin clan, cursed spirits, hosts of incarnated sorcerers, or a character who briefly dies and returns. The Escapist’s September 12, 2024 roster predates the ending and stops at chapter 269; Ciatr’s updated August 20, 2026 account includes chapter-specific status notes through the finale. Neither supplies a publisher-issued universal statistic. For context on the ending, VIZ lists chapter 271 and Shueisha marks Volume 30 as final.
