Rotten Tomatoes’ observed ranking puts The Last Waltz first among the Martin Scorsese-directed titles shown, at 98% on the Tomatometer. The list also includes documentaries and concert films, not just narrative features. Scores and positions below are a snapshot checked October 7, 2026; Rotten Tomatoes can update them, so consult its live ranking guide for current values.
How to read Rotten Tomatoes’ Scorsese ranking
The guide identifies the Tomatometer as its ranking basis and displays the Popcornmeter separately. Tomatometer percentages reflect critics’ reviews; Popcornmeter percentages are audience scores. Neither percentage is an objective measure of a film’s quality, and the figures should not be treated as interchangeable.
The page’s displayed positions and scores in this snapshot do not form a perfectly descending sequence. For example, Mean Streets is shown ahead of Goodfellas and Killers of the Flower Moon, even though the latter two display 93% and Mean Streets displays 92%. The extracted page also has a numbering gap. The list below preserves the visible positions rather than silently rearranging entries by percentage; check the live guide in case its ordering or scores have changed.
Rotten Tomatoes’ broader Scorsese profile aggregates credits in different roles. A title appearing on that profile is not necessarily directed by Scorsese. This article focuses on works identified as his directing credits in the ranking snapshot.

What to watch, depending on your interest
For a documentary or concert film
The Last Waltz leads the observed list and captures a concert performance, while Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese takes a documentary approach to Dylan and the touring musicians around him. They show why a Scorsese ranking that includes nonfiction and music films differs from a feature-only list.

For crime stories across Scorsese’s career
Mean Streets, Goodfellas, The Departed, and The Irishman offer distinct entry points into his crime films. The scores are critics’ Tomatometer snapshots, not a guide to which one audiences prefer: in the five top entries with audience values listed, Goodfellas has a 97% Popcornmeter, compared with 84% for Mean Streets and Killers of the Flower Moon.
For a different side of the filmography
Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore centers on a woman rebuilding her life; The King of Comedy turns to fame and comic ambition; and Hugo is an adventure rooted in cinema history. Rotten Tomatoes’ 2016 career overview chose representative works rather than ranking them by Tomatometer, and framed recurring interests in organized crime, male insecurity, and spiritual and moral uncertainty (Rotten Tomatoes, updated November 7, 2016).
