For a varied 2022 watchlist on Hulu, these nine picks span documentaries, drama, horror, and comedy, mixing films with series. The selection favors distinctive premises, genre variety, and critical or audience appeal rather than claiming a definitive ranking. Availability is the catch: Hulu’s US catalog changes, and the information available here does not verify that all nine titles are currently included in a Hulu plan. Search each title in Hulu before settling on a watch; availability can vary by country, plan, and date.
How to use this list
“2022” means the film’s release year or the series’ premiere year. The picks below are grouped by format and viewing mood, not ranked. JustWatch offers release-date and genre filters for Hulu’s catalog, and says its Hulu movie list is updated daily; consult its Hulu catalog or Hulu movie listings as a starting point, then confirm the title and plan in Hulu itself. Catalog listings can change.
Films for a single-sitting watch
Prey
Prey is a 2022 Hulu Original film and a strong choice for a tense science-fiction action night. Its premise—an encounter between a Comanche warrior and a Predator—sets the familiar franchise threat in a distinctive historical setting. Hulu’s Originals page has surfaced the film as a 2022 title, but that alone does not establish its current availability in every territory or plan. Check Hulu Originals and search the service before watching.
Fire Island
For a lighter film with a romantic-comedy mood, Fire Island reworks the social world of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice around a group of friends on a summer vacation. It suits viewers looking for an ensemble comedy rather than a high-concept thriller. Verify its listing and plan requirements in Hulu before choosing it.

Not Okay
Not Okay is a dark comedy for viewers interested in online image-making and the consequences of chasing attention. Its satirical premise makes it a sharper, more uncomfortable pick than a conventional feel-good comedy. Check Hulu for current US availability and any plan restrictions.
Prey for the Devil
If supernatural horror is the mood, Prey for the Devil offers a possession-centered story built around an unconventional would-be exorcist. Choose it for a horror-focused evening rather than a documentary or grounded drama. Confirm that it is currently listed in your Hulu catalog; its presence should not be assumed from its 2022 release year.

Good Luck to You, Leo Grande
This intimate comedy-drama is a fit for viewers who prefer character conversations and personal change to spectacle. Its focused setup gives the film a more reflective feel than the list’s action and horror options. Search Hulu directly to confirm current availability and whether it is included with your plan.
Series when you want more than one evening
The Bear
The Bear premiered in 2022 and follows the pressure-cooker work of a restaurant kitchen. It is a good match for viewers who like fast, stressful workplace drama and character-driven stories. Check which seasons, if any, are currently available in your Hulu plan; the series’ premiere year does not mean every season dates to 2022.

Only Murders in the Building
This 2022-season pick pairs a murder mystery with comedy and an unlikely amateur-investigator trio. It works for viewers who want an ongoing mystery without committing to a purely grim crime drama. The series began before 2022, so this recommendation refers to a season that aired in 2022, not the series premiere. Verify the season’s availability in Hulu.
Reservation Dogs
For an offbeat, community-centered comedy-drama, Reservation Dogs follows Indigenous teenagers in rural Oklahoma. Its blend of humor, coming-of-age storytelling, and place-specific perspective makes it a distinctive alternative to the workplace and mystery series here. This recommendation concerns the series’ 2022 episodes, not its original premiere year; check Hulu for the seasons currently included.

Santa Evita
Santa Evita is a 2022 Hulu Original limited series about the fate of Eva Perón’s body after her death. It suits viewers looking for historical drama and political intrigue rather than a quick comedy. Hulu’s Originals page has surfaced it as a 2022 title, but current catalog presence still needs to be confirmed for your location and plan.
