Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is already out: it launched on July 23, 2026. PM Studios lists it for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. It is a 1v1 fighter with a 12-character launch roster, Story, Arcade, Training, and Versus modes, plus cross-play and rollback netcode described by its official listings.
When did the Avatar fighting game come out?
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game released on July 23, 2026. Nintendo, Steam, and PM Studios list that date, so the game is no longer an upcoming summer release. Nintendo’s listing, Steam’s store page, and PM Studios provide the release and product details.
What platforms is it on?
PM Studios lists Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Nintendo says the Switch version is compatible with Nintendo Switch 2, with behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch. That compatibility note does not establish a separate Switch 2 edition.
The reviewed official listings identify digital editions; they do not establish a physical release. Store availability and edition details can vary by region, so check the store for your platform before buying.

What kind of game is it?
This is a 1v1, 2D fighting game set in the Avatar franchise. Its official listings describe hand-drawn 2D animation and 12 playable characters at launch. Gameplay Group International also announced eight unique launch stages. Those figures are publisher and developer descriptions, not independent assessments of the game.
Listed modes include Story, Arcade, Training, and offline and online Versus. The core mechanics highlighted by the official pages are Flow, which supports dashing and evasion, and Energy Points, which power enhanced special moves and cinematic Super Arts. Nintendo’s listing also describes selectable support characters with distinct abilities.

How do online play and cross-play work?
Steam and Nintendo describe rollback netcode and cross-play across multiple platforms. These are official feature descriptions; they do not independently establish online performance or how well cross-play works in practice.
Nintendo lists single-system play for one to two players and online play for two. Online play on Switch requires Nintendo Switch Online. Requirements can differ by platform, so verify the current rules for your platform if online play is important to you.

What editions are available?
Steam lists digital Standard and Digital Deluxe editions. The Digital Deluxe edition includes the game, a Year 1 Pass, a digital soundtrack, and a digital artbook. The listed Year 1 Pass plans name Iroh, Ty Lee, Lin Beifong, Bolin, and one character selected by a Year 1 vote. Nintendo identifies its listing as a digital edition; the reviewed sources do not confirm equivalent Deluxe contents on every platform.
For Steam, the language listing specifies English full audio and six interface and subtitle languages. Nintendo’s US listing shows American English. Check the relevant regional store for current language and edition details.
