What happened during the Top 10 reveal?
The results aired Monday, April 28, 2025, after the preceding Top 12 results episode. Contestants performed songs tied to iconic moments in American Idol history. Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie were the judges.
During Slater Nalley’s performance, Richie praised his growing confidence and stage presence, telling him, “You’re solid as a rock.” The comment was feedback on the performance, not an explanation of the vote result.

The Top 10 were scheduled to perform again on May 4, 2025, for Ladies’ Night. That round narrowed the competition to eight, as reported in TV Insider’s recap and TVLine’s coverage.
The April 28 roster was a stage in the competition, not the season’s final ranking. Jamal Roberts ultimately won Season 23, John Foster finished as runner-up, and Breanna Nix placed third, according to ABC News’ May 19, 2025 report.
