Amanda Shires opened for Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit at two scheduled concerts after news of their divorce became public. The available concert report confirms the broad account, but not the dates or venues. Shires later told NPR that making her album Nobody’s Girl helped her process the experience.
What the concert report confirms
The report describes Shires playing the opening set at two scheduled concerts with Isbell and the 400 Unit, more than three months after news of the divorce broke. It does not establish the concerts’ dates, venues, set lists, audience response, or what either artist said onstage. The account is historical; it is not evidence that Shires is currently opening for Isbell. Concert report

When the divorce was filed
ABC News reported that Isbell filed divorce paperwork in Williamson County, Tennessee, on December 15, 2023. The filing cited irreconcilable differences and listed December 3, 2023, as the separation date. Those are distinct dates: December 3 was the date listed for separation, and December 15 was the filing date. ABC News report
How Shires described making Nobody’s Girl
In a September 24, 2025, NPR interview with Scott Detrow, Shires said the album helped her process the experience: “It was definitely – selfishly – to help me process things.” She also described her sense of self after the marriage this way: “I don’t belong to anybody but myself.” These are Shires’s comments in the context of discussing the album, not independent evidence about private events or the meaning of particular lyrics. Her comment about “The Details”
In that same interview, Shires said of the song “The Details”: “That song’s not one I’m going to play live ever.” It is a specific statement about performing that song at the time of the interview, not a claim about her entire live repertoire. NPR interview and transcript
