What Amber Heard reportedly said
TheWrap reproduced this wording from a post it attributed to Heard’s Instagram account: “After all this time, ‘Aquaman 2’ made its splash (sorry, it’s too easy) 💦 Thank you to all of my fans for the overwhelming support and love in Mera’s AQ return. Thank you so much❤️” TheWrap’s report described it as a return to Instagram with a message about the film. The Independent also reported that Heard thanked fans for their support of her return as Mera in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

How the message fits the film
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, often called Aquaman 2, is the sequel to the 2018 film. The Associated Press review describes Heard as returning as Aquaman’s wife and characterizes the sequel as centered on Aquaman and his brother Orm. That is film context; it does not establish why Heard posted or determine the extent of her role in the finished movie. Read the AP review.

Why the story is a post-release update
The reports appeared in early January 2024, after the sequel’s December 2023 release. Heard’s reported note acknowledged the film’s arrival and thanked fans for what she called their “overwhelming support and love” for Mera’s return; it was not a new casting announcement.
