What OMEGA actually announced
A brand ambassador appointment
On May 22, 2025, OMEGA announced that Taylor-Johnson had joined its global brand ambassador roster. The announcement described his relationship with the watchmaker, not a film role. During a visit to OMEGA’s headquarters, he wore a Speedmaster First OMEGA in Space, reference 310.32.40.50.06.002. That product detail is not evidence of Bond casting. OMEGA’s announcement quotes him describing his appreciation for the brand and the watchmaking process.
A Planet Ocean campaign
On November 18, 2025, OMEGA named Taylor-Johnson and Glen Powell as ambassadors leading a Seamaster Planet Ocean campaign. Taylor-Johnson said the Seamaster was the watch he wore every day. That statement describes his connection to the collection; it does not announce a part in a Bond film. OMEGA’s campaign announcement identifies both actors as campaign figures.
What Amazon MGM Studios has said about the next Bond
In an official update published May 14, 2026, Amazon MGM Studios said: “The search for the next James Bond is underway. While we don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right.” The statement names no actor. Amazon’s studio update also names Denis Villeneuve as director, Amy Pascal and David Heyman as producers, Tanya Lapointe as executive producer, and Steven Knight as writer; none of those production details confirms casting.

Why the watch deal and casting claim are different
An ambassador announcement establishes a commercial relationship with a watch brand. A campaign identifies the people appearing in that marketing. Neither is a casting announcement from the studio making the film. OMEGA’s association with Bond-related watches may make the connection feel suggestive, but the announcements cited here do not say Taylor-Johnson has been cast.
The production context changed in 2025: Amazon MGM Studios announced that its joint venture with Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli closed on March 24, giving the studio creative control of future Bond productions while the parties remained co-owners. That explains the studio’s role in the franchise, not the identity of the next lead. Amazon’s announcement on the Bond arrangement covers the transaction.

What is confirmed—and what is not
- Confirmed: OMEGA named Taylor-Johnson a brand ambassador in May 2025 and featured him in its Planet Ocean campaign in November 2025.
- Confirmed: Amazon MGM Studios said on May 14, 2026, that the search for the next James Bond was underway.
- Not confirmed by those announcements: That Taylor-Johnson has been cast as Bond. The official studio update cited here names no actor.
The evidence supports calling Taylor-Johnson an OMEGA ambassador and Planet Ocean campaign figure—not the next James Bond. It cannot establish whether private conversations or an offer exist; it establishes only what the official announcements say.
