Fortnite leaker SamLeakss claimed on October 27, 2025, that a South Park crossover was “coming very soon,” citing an unnamed source at Paramount. VideoGamer reported that the claim was not based on datamined files and included no further details. Epic Games’ Fortnite account and South Park later officially announced the collaboration for January 9, 2026, so the original leak is now part of a confirmed, past event—not news of an upcoming release.
What the October 2025 leak actually claimed
VideoGamer reported on October 27, 2025, that SamLeakss posted: “SOUTH PARK x FORTNITE COMING VERY SOON.” The leaker said the claim was “Confirmed to me by a reliable source at Paramount.” The report stressed that the information had not been datamined and offered no specifics about characters, cosmetics, gameplay, or timing beyond “very soon.”
The source was unnamed, and the report does not independently establish what that person told the leaker. At the time, this was an attributed rumor rather than an official announcement. VideoGamer’s October 27 report records the original claim and its limits.
When Fortnite and South Park confirmed it
On January 6, 2026, Fortnite teased South Park-related news for January 9 with the words “Chaos, loading…” and an image of Butters, according to Kotaku’s January 7 coverage. The next day, South Park’s official account posted: “PREPARE. FOR. CHAOS. South Park is coming to Fortnite. 1.9.26”. The accounts’ posts turned the central collaboration claim into an official announcement, with January 9, 2026, as the announced date.

What the trailer and later coverage revealed
Details reported from the leaked trailer
Kotaku reported that a trailer had leaked before its official release. That leak coverage previewed Cartman, Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Butters in cardboard mech suits, as well as Cartmanland. These were details attributed to the leaked preview, not to SamLeakss’s October report, which had supplied no such information.
Kotaku also noted that the leak coverage did not establish exact release timing or cosmetic prices. Those details should not be inferred from the October rumor or the leaked trailer report.
