Eastlink’s current lineup lists Corus theme packs and STACKTV, though access depends on your location and subscription.
What the 2023 dispute was about
On June 23, 2023, MobileSyrup reported that Eastlink cable customers were expected to lose 35 Corus channels on June 27 because the companies had not renewed their carriage agreement. The affected programming included HGTV Canada and Showcase. The report described the disagreement as being about money, but the available public statements do not establish contract rates or independently determine which party was right.

Corus executive vice-president of broadcast networks Troy Reeb characterized Eastlink’s position this way: “Eastlink doesn’t want to pay what these channels are worth anymore.” An Eastlink spokesperson said the company had “worked very hard to reach an agreement” and customers would continue to “receive the same number of channels in their TV packages with access to comparable programming.” These were the parties’ respective public positions at the time. MobileSyrup’s June 23, 2023 report has the original account.
Did Eastlink bring Corus channels back?
Yes. Corus and Eastlink announced on June 6, 2024, that all 33 Corus channels would be available through Eastlink beginning that day. The 35-channel figure refers to the channels MobileSyrup said were at risk in 2023; the 33-channel figure is the number named in the companies’ 2024 restoration announcement. Corus’s announcement confirms the later agreement.

What alternatives were mentioned in 2023?
When the loss was announced, Reeb suggested customers could consider Telus, Shaw Satellite, Bell Satellite TV or Amazon Prime’s STACKTV to access the programming while keeping Eastlink for internet. Before switching or subscribing, verify channel availability for your region, the required package and whether delivery is by cable, satellite or streaming. The available sources do not establish a current price comparison.
