The franchise slate later grew to include a second season of Fionna and Cake and a ten-episode series starring Princess Bubblegum and Marceline. The film still has no confirmed release date, platform, or published plot in the announcement coverage cited here.
What was announced in June 2024?
On June 12, 2024, Engadget reported that Cartoon Network Studios was developing an Adventure Time feature film along with two series. The report did not provide the film’s plot, release date, or platform, so “coming back” described projects in development—not a dated movie release.
Side Quests
The series was described as following younger Finn and Jake through standalone adventures in Ooo. That premise points back to the duo’s earlier adventures rather than a single continuous story.
Heyo BMO
Presented as the franchise’s first preschool-oriented series, Heyo BMO centers on BMO. Its intended audience distinguishes it from the other projects announced alongside the film.
