Later reporting identified Penta, Rey Fenix, Ricky Starks (now Ricky Saints), Miro (returning as Rusev), Mariah May and Lana (CJ Perry) in different kinds of WWE arrivals or agreements. WWE’s own biographies independently confirm Penta’s January Raw arrival and Rusev’s post-WrestleMania 41 return.
Why “definitely” was too strong
A January 3, 2025 WrestleTalk feature presented seven AEW-associated names as potential WWE signings, not confirmed future hires. Its argument that Rey Fenix would follow his brother Penta was a prediction at the time, not an announcement or established contract fact. The distinction matters: a later outcome can show that a forecast proved accurate without making it certain in advance. WrestleTalk’s January prediction
Which AEW-associated performers joined or returned to WWE in 2025?
A June 4, 2025 Khel Now retrospective listed the following names. The list combines in-ring arrivals, a return, and a reported Legends agreement, so it should not be read as six identical full-time wrestler signings.
| Name | What was reported or confirmed | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Penta | WWE says he arrived on the January 13, 2025 episode of Raw and defeated Chad Gable. WWE biography | Officially corroborated WWE arrival. |
| Rey Fenix | The January prediction argued he would join his brother; Khel Now later included him among 2025 WWE arrivals. WrestleTalk prediction; Khel Now retrospective | Prediction first, later reported outcome. |
| Ricky Starks / Ricky Saints | Khel Now reported that Starks returned in WWE/NXT as Ricky Saints after leaving AEW. Khel Now retrospective | Use Ricky Saints for his WWE name and Starks for his earlier name. |
| Miro / Rusev | WWE says Rusev returned on the Raw after WrestleMania 41, after nearly five years away. WWE biography | An officially confirmed return; the January page had only treated a return as possible. January speculation |
| Mariah May | Khel Now reported her NXT debut on June 3, 2025, under the name Mariah May. Khel Now retrospective | A reported WWE arrival; this account does not establish her current status. |
| Lana / CJ Perry | Khel Now said she signed a WWE Legends deal in April 2025. Khel Now retrospective | A reported Legends deal, not evidence of a standard in-ring talent contract. |
What the strongest evidence shows
Officially confirmed arrivals
Penta’s WWE biography dates his arrival to Raw on January 13, 2025, and records his win over Chad Gable. WWE’s Rusev biography places his return on the Raw after WrestleMania 41 and says he had been away for nearly five years. These official pages provide stronger confirmation for those events than a prediction or roundup does. Penta’s WWE biography; Rusev’s WWE biography

Reported outcomes and different deal types
Khel Now’s June 4 list is useful as a retrospective, but it is secondary reporting. It groups performers whose situations differ: a debut, a return, a change of ring name, and a Legends deal. The reviewed sources do not supply precise contract dates or current contract terms for the named people, and WWE’s official pages cited here do not independently verify every name in the roundup. How to judge a wrestling-signing prediction
For a forward-looking claim, weigh evidence in this order rather than trusting certainty in a headline:

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Official announcement or on-screen debut: WWE’s announcement or documented debut establishes that an arrival happened.
- Credible reporting about an exit or contract situation: This may support a forecast, but is not the same as a completed WWE signing.
- Editorial fit or inference: A shared tag-team history, prior WWE tenure or plausible storyline can explain a prediction, but cannot confirm a deal.
Also check what “sign” means in context. An appearance, a return to WWE programming, an in-ring contract and a Legends arrangement are not interchangeable. WrestleTalk’s January article used possibility language, while Khel Now’s later list reported outcomes; reading those at their respective dates avoids treating hindsight as proof of certainty. The retrospective sources support saying that these six AEW-associated names were linked to WWE arrivals or agreements during 2025, with official WWE confirmation for Penta and Rusev’s return. They do not support saying all six were certain signings before the year began, nor do they establish every person’s present roster or contract status. WWE affiliation, contracts and merchandise lineups can change; the account here reflects reporting checked on October 7, 2026.
