This Scribd-hosted exam document is an English university entrance and admission exam for the 2021–2022 ordinary session, headed for Andalusia, Ceuta, Melilla and centers in Morocco. It is not a guide to the Korean webtoon A Good Day to Be a Dog. The exam combines reading comprehension, English-language practice and a short composition; its two reading choices cover dogs and the UK suffrage movement.
What the exam contains
The document assigns 10 points across three blocks. Candidates choose one reading text, complete a set of language questions and write on one of two prompts.
| Block | Points | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A: Comprehension | 4 | Choose one of the two texts and answer all eight questions for that text only. |
| B: Use of English | 3 | Answer six of the twelve questions. |
| C: Writing | 3 | Write at least 120 words on one of the two prompts. |
The answer key instructs candidates to give complete responses, including both parts of a question when it has two sections. If you answer more than six Block B questions, only the first six are counted. The search result does not establish the original issuing institution or an authoritative archive, so treat the document as an exam copy rather than an independently verified official publication.
Choose one reading: dogs or the Suffragettes
“It’s a Good Day to Be a Dog!”
This passage contrasts a 10-kilogram chicken-flavor dog-food example priced at $10 with Open Farm Pet’s Norwegian Salmon & Ancient Grains food, described as a similar size and priced at $72. It uses the comparison to introduce changing attitudes toward pets, describing a shift from working dogs and food scraps to indoor beds, healthcare, psychiatric treatment, massages, spa days and sweaters. These are details in the exam passage, not current product advice or verified market comparisons.

The text also claims that more than 10 million dogs were euthanized annually in America during the 1990s and that a figure attributed to the ASPCA had fallen to about 670,000 dogs a year. The passage gives no date, report title or underlying data source for the latter figure; neither number should be presented as a current estimate. Its claim that the overwhelming majority of shelter dogs are adopted is similarly undated and unsupported within the passage.
A line attributed there to comedian Jerry Seinfeld jokes about a person carrying a dog’s waste: “If you see two life forms —one of them is making a poop, and the other is carrying it for them, who would you assume is in charge?” The keyed interpretation is that pets can seem to be in charge of their human companions. The exam text does not identify where or when Seinfeld said it.
For the comprehension questions, the key identifies dogs wearing clothes as increasingly common, and says the passage does not claim premium dog food is the only choice. It treats shelter adoption as common rather than declining. Vocabulary answers include cruelty as the opposite of kindness, wild as the opposite of domestic, prescribe as authorizing medicine, and seeds as the plant part described.
“Women’s Right to Vote in the United Kingdom”
The second reading contrasts the Suffragists, who it presents as advocating peaceful protest and votes for upper- and middle-class women, with the Suffragettes, whom it describes as more inclusive across social classes and races and more willing to use confrontational tactics. It says many Suffragettes were arrested and most of those arrested went to prison. These points summarize the exam passage rather than independently verified historical findings.
Rank #3
In the passage’s account, Emily Davison stepped in front of the King’s racehorse at a 1913 race and died after being trampled. Public anger followed; women’s work during World War I helped advance the cause; and Parliament approved women’s voting rights in 1918. The reading closes by acknowledging differing views of Suffragette tactics while crediting the movement with helping later generations and modern society.
The key gives strategy as a synonym for tactics, expand for spread, dissatisfaction for frustrated, and public disagreement for protest. It marks as true the statements that the Suffragists were peaceful and did not campaign for poor women, that many Suffragettes were punished, and that the passage connects women’s wartime participation with voting rights.
Use of English: what to practise
The twelve-question section tests a range of grammar and transformation skills. The answer key includes examples involving:
- Infinitives and the past perfect.
- The expression “look forward to” and the causative form of have.
- Active and passive voice transformations, question formation and relative clauses.
- Rewrites expressing regret, third conditionals and “in spite of.”
- Correction of modal-perfect errors, conversion to direct speech and word order.
These are the specific task types represented in this exam, not a complete grammar syllabus. Use the key to check both the form and the full response requested by each item.

Choose and plan the writing prompt
Block C offers two topics, and candidates must choose one and write at least 120 words:
- “Dogs are a man’s best friend,” people say. Discuss.
- Do you think the role of women in society has changed over the last fifty years? Discuss.
For the dog prompt, keep the argument focused on human–animal relationships: you might weigh companionship and care against the responsibilities of keeping an animal. If you use claims from the reading—such as its euthanasia figures or adoption statement—identify them as claims made in that undated passage rather than established current statistics.
For the women-in-society prompt, define what “role” means in your argument and use examples that support a clear position. The exam reading supplies one historical frame, but it does not provide a separate evidence pack for the broader fifty-year question. In either essay, a direct opening claim, supporting reasons and a concluding sentence help keep a short response coherent.
Quick Recap
How to use the answer key responsibly
- Complete the eight comprehension questions for one text, not both.
- Select six language questions and remember that only the first six are counted if you answer extra ones.
- Check that each answer addresses every part of its question.
- Use the vocabulary key in the context of the passage rather than treating a synonym as interchangeable in every setting.
- Attribute the dog-welfare numbers to the exam passage and do not repeat them as current ASPCA data.
- Present the suffrage account as the passage’s summary; the document does not cite separate historical sources.
