Why Michael said he left Angela
In an interview published by Entertainment Tonight on July 25, 2024, Michael described arriving in the United States expecting the relationship to improve, then feeling that it had worsened. “I thought when I got here things will be better for us,” he said. “But I was wrong, you know? Things got worse when I got here.”

He said the situation reached a point where he could not bear it anymore, and described feeling like an unwanted guest. Those are Michael’s account of his experience, not independently established findings about what happened inside the home.
What is known about his departure—and the “18 hours”
Entertainment Tonight reported that Angela reported Michael missing in Georgia in February 2024 and that he was found several days later. A separate recap published on August 28, 2024, says Michael walked for five hours before seeking a phone to contact friends and get help. The same recap refers to an 18-hour distance or trip between him and Angela.

That recap does not verify an 18-hour escape journey. The five-hour walk and the 18-hour wording are details attributed to secondary entertainment coverage; they should not be combined into a confirmed account of his route or total travel time.
How their relationship reached that point
TLC’s retrospective traces the couple’s relationship from meeting through social media to their appearances across several 90 Day Fiancé series. It describes their marriage, the wait connected with Michael’s visa, and recurring conflict. That franchise history provides context for their public relationship, but it does not independently verify Michael’s account of the circumstances in Angela’s home.

What happened after Michael left
Michael spoke with Entertainment Tonight about the split and said he was open to further reality-TV appearances. The interview also covered the February 2024 missing-person report and his description of leaving. These details belong to the 2024 account; they do not resolve disputed claims about the couple’s private relationship.
Later reporting provides a separate update: TV Insider reported on March 11, 2026, that the divorce was finalized March 10, 2026. Complex also described Michael as divorced in an article dated October 3, 2026. The divorce update came after the departure and is not evidence about how long the escape took.
