For the central Umamusume: Pretty Derby TV storyline, watch the original series, then Season 2, then Season 3. The other anime projects are separate or supplemental entries; Cygames does not publish one required viewing order for the whole franchise.
The recommended order for the main TV series
- Umamusume: Pretty Derby (the original TV anime)
- Umamusume: Pretty Derby Season 2
- Umamusume: Pretty Derby Season 3
Cygames lists these as three distinct TV anime entries on its official anime portal. Watching them in numbered season order is the clearest route for a first-time viewer who wants the central TV sequence. The portal also lists other projects, but does not give a franchise-wide mandatory chronology.
Where the other Umamusume anime fit
| Title | Format and official listing | How to approach it |
|---|---|---|
| ROAD TO THE TOP | Four-episode online anime project about Narita Top Road, Admire Vega, and T.M. Opera O competing in the classic races. The official page records releases on April 16, 23, and 30, and May 7, 2023. Cygames project page. | Optional separate project; it is not one of the three numbered TV seasons. |
| ROAD TO THE TOP theatrical recut | Theatrical presentation of the same project. Cygames announced a limited run beginning May 10, 2024; its announcement said the original online episodes would become private on April 8, 2024. Cygames announcement. | Choose the online episodes or the recut as a presentation of this story; a newcomer does not need to watch both as sequential installments. |
| Beginning of a New Era | A 2024 theatrical film listed separately from the numbered TV seasons on the official anime portal. | Optional feature. The cited listing does not establish a required place in the TV sequence or a mandatory connection to it. |
| Umayuru | Short anime series; Cygames lists 24 episodes. Cygames project page. | Optional short-form spin-off, separate from the numbered TV seasons. |
| UmaYon | Listed separately from the numbered TV seasons on the official anime portal. | Optional short-form spin-off. |
| Cinderella Gray | A separate adaptation listed on the official anime portal. Cygames announced that its second cour began October 5, 2025. Cygames announcement. | Watch as a distinct branch of the franchise, not as Season 4 of the numbered Pretty Derby TV sequence. |
| Anniversary special animation | Listed separately by Cygames on the official anime portal. | Optional bonus viewing; the listing does not establish a required position. |
A simple viewing plan
If you want only the central TV storyline
Watch the original Umamusume: Pretty Derby, Season 2, and Season 3 in that order. You can stop there without treating the separately listed projects as missing numbered seasons.
If you want more after the TV seasons
Choose supplemental titles by format and interest. Try ROAD TO THE TOP for its separate race-focused story, or watch its theatrical recut instead of the original online presentation. The film Beginning of a New Era, Umayuru, UmaYon, and the anniversary special are also optional entries. No cited official listing supplies a compulsory cross-project order.
