NYT Strands puzzle #380, dated Tuesday, March 18, 2025, has the theme “Grrr.” If you want to solve it yourself, use the staged hints below before opening the spoiler-marked answer key.
Hints for March 18, 2025
- Theme: “Grrr.”
- Gentle nudge: Think “Angry.”
- Spangram clue: It names another, more famous New York Times puzzle.
- Length: The spangram has nine letters.
- Board position: TechRadar’s guide says it starts on the left at row 6 and ends on the right at row 5.
TechRadar also suggests SOUTH, REED, ROVE, SCAR, SIRE, and SANK as words to find for in-game hints. These are clue-generating words, not answers to the puzzle.

Spangram: CROSSWORD
How the hints work
Strands is a word-search-style puzzle built around theme words and a spangram. Try Hard Guides describes finding three qualifying words that are not theme answers as a way to generate an in-game hint; the spangram points to the connection among the theme answers. These mechanics are described by secondary guides, rather than verified here against an official NYT rules page.

Sources and date note
TechRadar, Forbes, and Try Hard Guides independently list the same answer set for the March 18, 2025 puzzle. The date corresponds to game #380; it should not be confused with a March 18 puzzle from a different year. The historical board’s current availability in the NYT archive has not been established.
