Creator Kohei Horikoshi added chapter 431, “More,” to the final collected volume, offering a glimpse of Izuku Midoriya and Class 1-A years after graduation. It is an epilogue, not an announcement of a new ongoing main-series manga.
Did My Hero Academia really end?
Yes: the original manga’s weekly serialization concluded in August 2024. The distinction that can cause confusion is between the serialized ending and the final collected volume. The official anime site identifies chapter 430 as the serialization finale; Shueisha later included chapter 431, “More,” at the end of the manga’s final volume. The official anime announcement and Shueisha’s Volume 42 listing document the difference.
| What you mean by “the ending” | What it contains | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|
| Serialization finale | Chapter 430, identified by the official anime site as the manga’s serialization finale | The original serialized story |
| Collected-volume ending | Chapter 430 followed by chapter 431, “More,” drawn by Horikoshi | Final Volume 42, released in print and digitally on December 4, 2024, according to Shueisha |
What is chapter 431, “More”?
“More” is an additional, creator-drawn epilogue included at the end of Volume 42. Shueisha’s announcement describes it as Horikoshi’s drawn episode, “No. 431 More,” and announced an anime adaptation. Shueisha’s announcement makes clear that the chapter belongs to the final volume, rather than marking the launch of a new serialized installment.
Where it takes Deku and Class 1-A
The official anime site says the episode depicts the “further future” of Deku and Class 1-A after they become pro heroes, eight years after graduating from U.A. That interval is the story’s time jump; it is not a promise of an ongoing sequel. Readers looking for the added chapter can find it in the final collected volume. VIZ lists its English-language Volume 42 as the final volume.

What happened to the anime adaptation?
The official anime site and Shueisha announced May 2, 2026, as the planned broadcast date for an anime television special adapting “More.” Those pages establish the announced schedule, but an announcement is not confirmation that the special aired, nor does it establish where it can currently be watched. Check an official anime or broadcaster listing for a current broadcast or streaming record before relying on availability information.
Does “More” mean Izuku’s story is continuing as a series?
No continuing main manga series is announced in the cited official sources. “More” extends the ending with a specific epilogue chapter; it should not be read as confirmation that the main manga has resumed or that an indefinite Deku-centered sequel is underway.
