Aniplex announced that Solo Leveling -Beyond the System- is in production as a theatrical sequel to Season 2. Its notice included a teaser video and visual and said more information would follow, but did not provide a premiere date, streaming window, territory, or details about which story material the film will cover. Aniplex’s movie announcement is the clearest official update on the franchise’s next screen release.
The format matters: a movie is the announced project; a third TV season is not. Aniplex has not said that the film permanently replaces Season 3, so it is too early to treat the movie as either confirmation of a season or proof that one will never happen.
Is Solo Leveling Season 3 cancelled?
No cancellation has been announced in the official material reviewed. Aniplex’s Solo Leveling news listing showed the July 2026 movie notice but no Season 3 announcement as of October 7, 2026. What did the 2028 Olympics comment mean?
In a May 2025 media Q&A, Aniplex producer Sota Furuhashi said, “So, if it were up to me, I’d say let’s wait until the next Olympics to see what’s going to happen with a Season 3.” He framed it as his conditional personal view, said the decision was more up to A-1 Pictures and Atsushi Kaneko, and cited giving animators breathing room. The next Summer Olympics are in 2028, but Furuhashi’s remark is not a promise that Season 3 will arrive then—or that it will be announced then. He also reported that 220,000 animation frames were made between Seasons 1 and 2. That is a producer-reported production figure, not an independently audited measure; it helps explain why production workload entered the conversation, not when another season will be ready.
Did Crunchyroll confirm a third season?
No. In June 2026, Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini told Radio Times, as reported by GamesRadar, “Nothing to announce, but we are just as eager as the fans for the next show!” He said creators were actively working on it and hoped an announcement would come soon. GamesRadar’s account uses the broader phrase “next show”; it does not confirm that the project is Season 3. Purini’s comment also came before Aniplex announced the theatrical film in July 2026.

Why the wait does not settle the series’ future
There is a source story to continue: Sony Group Corporation describes the anime as based on a webtoon that originated from a South Korean novel, with the anime co-produced by Aniplex and Crunchyroll and animated by A-1 Pictures. Sony also reported that Season 1 was Crunchyroll’s most-viewed new anime in 2024 and that the series won Anime of the Year at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in May 2025. Those are specific platform- and year-qualified achievements, not evidence of a Season 3 order. Sony’s 2025 Corporate Report provides the franchise and production context, but no Season 3 schedule.
Fans who want to continue the story outside the anime can look into officially licensed editions of the source material. Check that the edition is official and verify where the released anime leaves off before choosing a continuation point; the information here does not establish a precise chapter or volume handoff.

- Watch or revisit the released seasons through services licensed in your country; streaming availability can vary by territory and change over time.
