The early leak was the unredacted cover for Absolute Batman #18, which pointed to the Court of Owls. It was not a confirmed reveal of Robin’s identity: a separate redacted cover for #20 teased Robin, and writer Scott Snyder later said its prominent “R” was only a placeholder.

What leaked in Absolute Batman?

On February 13, 2026, Popverse reported that the unredacted cover of Absolute Batman #18 had appeared online before its intended reveal. The image pointed toward the Court of Owls, a secretive group central to the issue’s teased surprise. The reported leak was the cover; it did not establish additional story details beyond what the image and coverage indicated. Popverse’s report attributed the accidental early disclosure to DC and its primary U.S. distributor, Lunar.

Scott Snyder, the series’ writer, explained that the cover was meant to stay redacted until after #17 was released. He wrote, “So the cover for absolute Batman 18 was supposed to stay redacted until next week when 17 came out :/” Snyder also linked the timing to the schedule shift: “It was just a scheduling thing because 17 was initially supposed to come out this week but got pushed one week because I needed extra time.” That is Snyder’s reported explanation, rather than independent confirmation of how the image circulated.

Who are the Court of Owls in this reveal?

The Court of Owls is the group signaled by the #18 cover. The available coverage frames it as the coming surprise, but does not provide enough confirmed plot information to describe its role in the issue in detail. The safe takeaway is that the cover leak identified the Court as relevant; it did not reveal the full story behind its appearance.

Is Absolute Robin Damian Wayne?

The reports covered here do not confirm that Robin is Damian Wayne—or identify Robin at all. On February 18, 2026, ComicBook.com reported that DC had shown a redacted cover for #20 that clearly teased Robin. Its synopsis suggested that characters would begin hunting after the loss of someone whose identity was also redacted, and that more than one secret would come out. Speculation about who Robin might be is not confirmation. ComicBook.com’s report

That distinction became clearer in Snyder’s later comments. At MegaCon, reported by Popverse on March 28, he said, “The R is going to drop away, and you’re going to see the designs of what we’re thinking for Robin.” He described the letter as a placeholder, not the final character design, and said the designs would be shown later. Which issue is tied to each reveal?

Issue Relevant reveal DC catalog date
Absolute Batman #17 The issue Snyder said had been delayed by a week; the #18 cover was intended to remain redacted until after its release. February 18, 2026
Absolute Batman #18 Its unredacted cover appeared early and pointed toward the Court of Owls. March 11, 2026
Absolute Batman #20 A redacted cover teased Robin; the character’s identity was not confirmed. May 13, 2026

These are the dates listed in DC Universe Infinite’s catalog. They resolve the earlier date discrepancy for #17: although the February 13 report referred to an initial February 11 schedule, the catalog lists February 18. DC’s catalog

What to watch for next

The Court of Owls clue belongs to the #18 cover leak; Robin belongs to the separate #20 teaser. Snyder’s comments indicate that the actual Robin designs were still to be revealed after the placeholder cover, but the reports cited here do not establish which identity or designs DC ultimately used.
