This gives you a separate app-like way to open the streaming service; it does not download songs for offline listening on Windows.
Install YouTube Music in Chrome
YouTube Music Help describes the desktop option as an installable web app on Chrome, rather than a separately documented native Windows installer. Follow these steps:
- Open Google Chrome and go to https://music.youtube.com/.
- Open Chrome’s More menu using the three-dot button in the upper-right corner.
- Select Cast, Save, and Share.
- Choose Install YouTube Music.
- Select Install when prompted.
The installed web app offers one-click launching, app switching, and keyboard shortcuts for play, pause, and skip. YouTube also describes casting from the service to supported speakers, smart displays, or TVs. Menu labels can change; if they differ in your Chrome version, look for the browser’s install option while you are on music.youtube.com. What to do if Chrome does not show the install option
Use music.youtube.com directly in a supported browser. You can stream from the site without installing the web app. YouTube’s cited desktop instructions specifically describe installation through Chrome; they do not promise that every browser or older Windows release supports installing it.

Does this work on Windows 11, Windows 10, and Windows 7?
The documented steps are for Chrome on a computer, but YouTube’s desktop instructions do not provide a separate compatibility guarantee for Windows 11, Windows 10, or Windows 7. The procedure is the documented desktop route; the support page does not establish that all three Windows versions are supported. YouTube Music Help.
Can you download YouTube Music songs to a Windows PC?
Installing the web app does not mean songs are downloaded to your computer for offline listening. YouTube Music Help describes Premium offline downloads on mobile devices, and YouTube’s supported-device guidance limits offline and background play to YouTube mobile apps, including the YouTube Music app. Premium is not required to install the Chrome web app, and the cited help pages do not establish Windows PC song downloads as a feature.

For mobile downloads, YouTube Music Help says the device must reconnect to the internet at least once every 30 days to maintain downloads. Use the official installation route
Search results or download sites may offer programs called “YouTube Music for Windows.” The official desktop instructions cited here describe Chrome’s installable web app, not an independently maintained native Windows client. Do not treat an unofficial installer or third-party downloader as an official YouTube Music app or as a supported way to save tracks to a PC.
