A General Lee replica based on a 1969 Dodge Charger jumped through the Fountain Square fountain in Somerset, Kentucky, on June 28, 2025, during the 25th annual Somernites Cruise. Coverage reported a 150-foot jump; the reviewed accounts do not document an independent measurement. Post-event reports said no one was injured, though they do not establish an official incident finding.
What happened during the Somerset jump?
Stunt driver Raymond Kohn drove the orange General Lee replica through the Fountain Square plaza fountain as part of the Somernites Cruise. The Commonwealth Journal preview, republished by Yahoo Sports, described the planned jump and the preparations beforehand.
Post-event accounts say the car cleared the fountain but landed hard. It lost a door and front suspension components, then veered into safety barriers, according to MotorBiscuit. The headline’s cameraman near miss is best understood as an impression from the video: the reviewed coverage does not provide a measured distance between the car or debris and the camera operator.
How far did the General Lee jump?
Event coverage reported a distance of 150 feet. The accounts reviewed do not describe a measuring method or identify an independent organization that verified the span, so 150 feet should be treated as the reported figure, not a confirmed technical measurement.

Did anyone get hurt?
Post-event coverage said everyone was safe and no one was injured. Somernites Cruise Executive Director Keith Floyd told MotorBiscuit, “Praise the Lord, everybody’s safe.” That is a reported post-event statement, not an independently verified official incident finding.
How organizers and the driver addressed safety
Before the event, the Commonwealth Journal preview reported safety planning that included concrete barriers. Kohn emphasized that the stunt required preparation and respect for the danger. “With this, you have to be safe,” he said, adding that he had family and friends and that he tried to ensure everything was ready before a jump.

Afterward, MotorBiscuit quoted Kohn calling the stunt “a very scary situation.” The hard landing, damaged car and barrier contact make clear that the jump carried real risks even though post-event reports said no one was hurt.
